Tell us about Charter Research.
Our purpose is to advance medicine for healthier lives. We do that by working with pharmaceutical companies to conduct clinical trials of their new investigational medications. We perform clinical studies in numerous therapeutic areas, but we’re best known for our Alzheimer’s disease research. When the trials show successful results, then the FDA reviews the summary clinical data – including the data produced by our team – to decide whether to approve the new medication.
Was there an ‘ah-ha’ moment that led you to start your company?
We were managing a large clinical trials site network, and we wanted the freedom to run the company the way we felt was right – with greater agility and better focus on the patients and the collection of high-quality data. We realized the best way to achieve our vision was to start anew with Charter Research.
Our team is committed to caring for our patients, collecting verifiable data, and working to advance medicine so that people everywhere can live healthier lives. Our team’s passion, energy, and commitment to making the world a better place really sets us apart. We focus on integrity and teamwork, plus an entrepreneurial mix of agility and determination to drive the research forward.
We focus on exceptional performance in three areas: connecting with and enrolling patients, providing an exceptional patient experience, and collecting high-quality clinical data. Our edge comes from focusing on delivery in these three areas better than our competitors. There’s no secret; it’s just strong execution.
It’s always people that make the difference. Within our company, we have a terrific team of experienced and talented people, including experts in clinical operations and business administration. When we confront a challenge, we pitch in together to figure it out. If we don’t have the talent in house, then we outsource it to the very best people we can find. Hiring great people costs more, and it’s worth it.
Over the next 12 months, we’re focused on growing our two research centers in The Villages and Orlando. We recently invested in larger new facilities in both locations, and we have significant capacity for growth within those new facilities. In the following years, we’ll open more sites across Florida or elsewhere in the United States. We’re evaluating locations.
Do you have proudest moment so far?
I’m proud of our team. It’s such a strong team, and it’s fun to join meetings and see all the talented people working together to care for patients, deliver data to our clients, and move medicine forward. We’ve come a long way from when we started.
What does it mean to be selected as an Honoree?
It’s an honor to receive this recognition and appear among the high-performing companies on this list. Getting here is a testament to working together. Clinical research is a team sport, and we can’t hope to discover the future of medicine without the dedication of a talented team. Thank You to our team!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank for getting you to where you are now?
I’d like to thank our brilliant team members who bring energy, passion, and commitment to their work every day at Charter Research. The growth and success of our company is the result of our team members working together to move research forward by collecting high-quality data for our sponsors.
