The Moment Everything Clicked

Chris Pumo’s entrepreneurial journey began inside a massive corporate environment. While working at Tyco, which was later acquired by Johnson Controls, Chris found himself at the intersection of finance and technology during a period of extreme complexity. The organization operated with more than 100 accounting systems, and leadership struggled to make sense of its own data.

Chris spent nearly two years rebuilding reporting systems from the ground up bridging IT and finance in a way few professionals could. That experience shattered a long-held belief: data was not sacred, mysterious, or untouchable. It was simply information waiting to be organized.

As he watched multibillion-dollar companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars annually on analytics, a realization took hold. If this could be done at scale for global corporations, it could also be done far more efficiently for middle-market businesses.

That insight became the foundation of Skyline Analytics: bringing enterprise-grade data intelligence to companies that had never been able to access it before.

Finding the Courage to Take the Leap

The courage to start Skyline did not come from spreadsheets or strategy decks it came from Chris’s wife. As he wrestled with the idea of launching a business, questioning the risk and the timing, she offered simple clarity: just do it. She had a job. They would figure it out.

Chris secured his first client, resigned from his role, and within days landed a second with his former employer. Skyline Analytics was officially born with momentum, trust, and unwavering family support behind it.

Filling a Critical Gap in the Market

Skyline exists to solve a problem most growing companies do not realize they have. While controllers manage accounting and CFOs handle strategy, a crucial role is often missing in the middle market: the FP&A professional who lives in budgets, forecasts, operational modeling, and performance analysis.

Most companies do not need that expertise full time. They may only need it for a few hours a month or at critical moments of growth. Skyline meets clients where they are, providing flexible, high-impact analytics that scale as the business grows.

From five hours a month to deeply embedded engagements, Skyline becomes a trusted extension of the leadership team long before a company reaches $100 million in revenue.

A Collaborative Workforce Built for Quality

In general, Skyline operates with an in-person, W-2 workforce. The work is highly collaborative, requiring a deep understanding of each client’s unique mix of systems, software, and business models. Every engagement is different, and the best solutions are built through collective problem-solving.

The team has steadily grown, onboarding approximately one new hire each quarter, with plans to accelerate to two or three as systems mature. Recent investments in processes and infrastructure are enabling faster onboarding for both clients and employees, positioning the company for its next phase of growth.

Sustained Growth with Discipline

Over the past several years, Skyline Analytics has delivered consistent annual growth in the range of 30–40%, a notable achievement for a services-based business. That momentum reflects not only demand, but a deliberate focus on process, quality, and scalability.

Recognition from programs like the Gator100 has reinforced Skyline’s commitment to operational discipline, proving that sustained growth does not require sacrificing service or culture.

Talent Development Through Exposure, Not Silos

Chris maintains close ties to the University of Florida, where he earned his MBA, and continues to source talent through academic networks. What sets Skyline apart for young professionals is exposure. Team members do not spend years locked into a single function. Instead, they work across industries like restaurants, manufacturing, engineering, and gaining more years’ worth of experience in a fraction of the time.

Skyline’s philosophy is simple: to advise a business well, you must understand the entire business. That belief shapes hiring, training, and culture across the organization.

A Culture of Quiet Intensity

Skyline’s culture is best described as “quiet intensity.” The team is composed of highly intelligent, deeply focused professionals who take pride in their work. While the pace is demanding, Chris is firm about balance. The company prioritizes a true 40-hour workweek, intervening quickly if workloads creep beyond that threshold.

Burnout is not a badge of honor at Skyline. Long-term growth for the company and its people matters more.

A Competitive Edge at the Intersection of Finance and Technology

Skyline’s greatest advantage lies in its ability to seamlessly integrate finance and IT. Software vendors offer rigid tools. Traditional consultants offer high-level advice. Skyline delivers both the data foundation and the analytical insight customized for each client.

By building clean, reliable data warehouses and pairing them with sophisticated analytics, Skyline creates clarity where chaos once existed.

Innovation Fueled by AI

Innovation at Skyline happens daily and quarterly. At the micro level, team members are encouraged to challenge assumptions and improve processes continuously. At the macro level, Skyline rolls out major innovations regularly.

Most notably, the firm’s AI-enabled analytics layer allows clients to query their own data in ways that once required hours of analyst time. Grounded in clean, structured data, Skyline’s AI delivers fast, accurate insights, transforming how leaders interact with information.

Chris believes AI will not eliminate jobs, but it will change them. Skyline’s future workforce will rely less on entry-level analysis and more on strategic thinkers who can interpret and act on insights.

Navigating Growth Plateaus

Like many service businesses, Skyline has encountered natural growth plateaus. Each phase: three people, five people, ten people introduced new constraints. Overcoming those moments required experimentation, structural change, and a willingness to try multiple approaches until the right one clicked.

Chris has learned to treat Skyline like a client, asking the same question he asks CEOs every day: what does the business need most right now? Often, the answer is not more work but better leadership focus.

Florida as a Strategic Advantage

Florida’s growing business community, expanding talent pool, and emphasis on in-person relationships have been instrumental in Skyline’s success. Despite a digital-first world, clients still value face-to-face collaboration, and Florida makes that possible.

Skyline is rooted in the state and plans to stay. Chris sees Florida as an ideal environment to build a dominant middle-market consulting firm with national reach.

Advice for Entrepreneurs

Chris’s advice is rooted in conviction. Believe in your idea. Believe in yourself. Fear will always exist, but it should not dictate your decisions.

Skyline is not just a business. It is a legacy one Chris hopes will continue to grow, evolve, and impact Florida’s economy for years to come.
