Anuvision Technologies: A Journey Fueled by Courage and the Willingness to Walk Away

Summer Vyne did not become an entrepreneur because she planned to; she became one because she could not stay where she was. After thirteen years at a large AV company, she reached a breaking point. The industry was shifting toward private equity ownership, customer experience was suffering, and decisions were being made by spreadsheets instead of people. One day, she simply said: โ€œI canโ€™t do this anymore.โ€

She walked away without another job lined up. What followed was unexpected; her phone began ringing with job offers, validating her reputation and raising her confidence. Eventually, she accepted an opportunity to co-own a company. For four years they grew to nearly $40M in revenue, but behind the scenes, trust was breaking. Her partner became entangled in questionable dealings, and Summer made the difficult decision to exit. She saved her entire team personally by placing people in new jobs, calling a major integrator to rescue her Orlando office, and ensuring every employee landed safely. After the dust settled, she thought she was done with entrepreneurship. She returned to corporate life, but the feeling never left she could do it better on her own.

The Birth of Anuvision in the Middle of a Global Shutdown

In April 2020, during the height of COVID shutdowns, Summer made her boldest move yet: she filed the paperwork to start her own company. โ€œAfter I submitted it, I thoughtโ€ฆ oh no. What have I done?โ€ With the world frozen, she spent 2020 building the foundation; marketing, systems, processes while consulting on the side to survive. But by 2021, a major customer pushed her to open fully: โ€œIf you donโ€™t launch now, we have to go somewhere else.โ€
She opened it. And in three months, the company billed over $1 million. From that moment, growth exploded. In four years, Anuvision Technologies has expanded 290% and now works with Floridaโ€™s largest school districts, universities, and corporations.

A Name That Reflects a New Way of Seeing Customers

The name Anuvision embodies Summerโ€™s mission: a new vision for integration, a new approach to customer relationships, and a company built on clarity, transparency, and care. The unconventional spelling with a โ€œUโ€ instead of an โ€œEโ€ is intentional. It signals that this company is different: creative, bold, modern, and not afraid to stand out.

Built on Courage, Passion, and Relentless Care for Customers

Summer believes entrepreneurship begins with courage and not everyone has it. She describes herself as tenacious, passionate, and deeply invested in every customer relationship. Many of her clients have worked with her for years because they know she will answer the phone, meet impossible deadlines, and follow through when others will not. Even when failure happens, she sees it not as defeat, but as instruction.

What Anuvision Does and Why Customers Trust Them

Anuvision Technologies delivers AV integration and engineering services through a small, dedicated team. They design and install digital displays, audio/video systems, interactive classroom technology, conference rooms, and specialty solutions. Customers work with the same people throughout the relationship and benefit from boutique-level responsiveness that large national firms simply cannot provide. They bring experience, reliability, transparent communication, and cost-effective engineering without the overhead that drives up pricing in large integrators.

A Team of Thirty and Growing Quickly

The company employs a diverse mix of administrative staff, sales support, design engineers, installers, and service technicians. With an Orlando office opening in March and a Tampa office underway, Summer expects to add 10โ€“15 additional employees within the next three years. Their Innovation Center in Jacksonville is a hands-on playground of technology windows that transform into LED screens, digital displays, interactive boards, and even robots that serve coffee with custom-printed foam art. Customers can touch, test, and experiment with the very tools they plan to deploy.

Culture: Creative, Eclectic, and United Under Pressure

The culture at Anuvision Technologies is defined by creativity, ownership, and the willingness to jump into difficult situations together. One defining story captures this spirit: a manufacturer approached Summer with an urgent problem after another integrator failed thousands of interactive panels across dozens of schools had to be installed in only two months. Her team initially refused. โ€œWe canโ€™t do that,โ€ they told her. An hour later, every person in the room was sketching timelines and scheduling night shifts.

They completed the entire project working evenings, weekends, and pulling off what should have taken over a year. Ownership is woven into the culture. Many team members have been with Summer since her earliest ventures; some were hired straight out of high school, trained by the company, and are now flourishing as engineers and technicians. Everyone feels personally responsible for the success of the customer.

A Competitive Edge Rooted in Agility and Integrity

Anuvision routinely competes against large, private equityโ€“backed companies, but their advantage is agility. They can respond faster, shift crews instantly, or take on emergency work without the bureaucratic delays that slow down competitors. They also choose their customers carefully. Not every client is the right fit, especially those who demand high-end services but expect bargain pricing. Summerโ€™s strategy is clear: work with partners who value quality, speed, and long-term relationships.

The First Major Barrier: Banks

Early on, Anuvision won a massive contract worth $11 million, but banks refused to fund inventory. Shockingly, her manufacturer stepped in instead, creating a shared account and agreeing to ship product while getting paid first. Banks only became interested after the project succeeded. Summer believes Florida needs programs that support fast-growing businesses before they become success stories not after.

The Next Three Years: Robotics, AI, and a New Era of Digital Engagement

Summer is at the forefront of emerging tech. The company is deploying robotics across its Innovation Center not as gimmicks, but as solutions to solve talent shortages and increase ROI for customers. Her team is piloting new LED window technology, interactive digital signage, and robotics that automate hospitality experiences. But rapid innovation brings new challenges: cybersecurity threats, shifting supply chains, tariffs, and technology advancing faster than training pipelines can support.

Building Floridaโ€™s Innovation Ecosystem

Beyond her own business, Summer is passionate about strengthening Floridaโ€™s talent pipeline. She serves as a mentor through the JSEB program, judges pitch competitions at UNF, and founded the DisruptIT Conference a new event focused on innovation and entrepreneurship that brings together Kโ€“12 students, universities, venture capital, and business leaders. Her mission is to keep talent in North Florida to give students reasons to build their futures locally instead of leaving the state.

Why Florida? Why Now?

Summer sees Florida as one of the best places in the country to run a business. The tax environment is supportive, the economic ecosystem is thriving, and the stateโ€™s response during COVID-19 reinforced her belief that Florida values entrepreneurship. She may not have grown up here, but she says she will never leave.

Why Being Honored by GrowFL Matters

To Summer, GrowFL is more than an award; it is a community. It is a room full of people who understand the loneliness of leadership, the anxiety of decision-making, and the weight of carrying a company forward. โ€œPeople at my level donโ€™t always have this,โ€ she says. โ€œItโ€™s a lonely chair at the top.โ€
GrowFL provides connection, perspective, and a powerful reminder that she is not alone on the journey.

Advice for Entrepreneurs

Summer keeps it real: Just do it. Have courage. Expect failure and learn from it. She encourages founders to seek mentorship, reduce emotional decision-making, and trust their instincts. Her own path proves that courage, grit, and strong values can turn setbacks into success.
