Was there an “ah-ha” moment that led you to start your company?
In 2006, I noticed a problem. After 15 years with two of the largest security firms in the U.S., I realized that national security companies needed to adequately serve the needs of local communities. Two years later, I founded Integrated Security Consultants.
What’s your company culture like?
We hire most of our employees from referrals from current employees, which we take as a compliment. Our staff numbers have consistently grown in the last four years and have a very low turnover rate. We provide generous medical benefits and don’t put caps on our raises, so an employee’s earning potential is extensive. Our employees frequently recommend our company to their family members and friends as a great workplace.
Our fundamental business values are Integrity, Solutions, and Customer Service. We set ourselves apart from our competition by building long-term client relationships rather than focusing on one-off projects. Our team members know our business values and strive to abide by them while working. We do everything with integrity, even when it costs us money. We provide solutions to our clients while providing excellent customer service.
We’ve utilized multiple resources, including the help of the USF Small Business Development Center and the Tampa Bay Chamber. I recommend that any small business owner seek out their local chamber of commerce for networking opportunities.
The security camera market is expected to grow to nearly $6 billion in the next seven years, so we feel fortunate to be in the industry during such a busy time. We see ourselves continuing to serve large enterprise clients like the National Football League and Coca-Cola Beverages Florida.
Do you have proudest moment so far?
My proudest moment as CEO has been helping the community through our business efforts. One of our employees was homeless when he was onboarded and now has his own home, which he credits to his employment at Integrated Security Consultants.
What does it mean to be selected as an Honoree?
Being selected as a GrowFL FLCTW honoree is a tremendous honor for our team. We recognize the prestige of this award and are grateful to be recognized for our hard work. We’ve faced challenges as a business founded during the Great Recession. Making it this far is significant to us.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank for getting you to where you are now?
My wife for her support, and my management team for what they do daily for our customers.
What is your advice for aspiring or fellow business owners?
First, I’d tell you that you picked a great state for business because of Florida’s rapid growth. In 2022, we were named one of the best states in the country to found a startup. I’d recommend finding your competitive edge and focusing on what sets you apart from others in your industry. Lastly, take advantage of all the fantastic networking opportunities available to entrepreneurs in Florida.
