Was there an “ah-ha” moment that led you to start your company?
My career started in a large company. We did things well, but it took forever. The ability of a small business to respond quickly and provide immediate solutions for customers drove me to the entrepreneurial world.
What makes your company culture special
Integrity. Our people care… as we have grown and added new talent, we have focused on hiring people of character.
What is your competitive edge?
We listen to our customers, provide strong engineering support, and respond immediately. The combination of a sense of urgency and vertical integration allows us to move from initial discussions to manufacturing in a fraction of the time of our competitors.
My Dad was my go-to guy and mentor for years. Today I listen to our people and reach out to our strong board of directors and the industry friends I have developed over the years to help guide our direction.
Intellitec is positioned for sustainable, profitable, and rapid growth. We are in the process of launching six new products for our existing markets. We are focusing on developing new partnerships to bring our products and services to new markets.
When we recapitalized the company in 2020, I knew we would be successful. This allowed us to buy our facility, 10+ acres of property, added $500K of new capital equipment, and provided us with the working capital to grow our business. We did this during the craziness of COVID pandemic.
What does it mean to be selected as an Honoree?
It’s a great honor and a reaffirmation that we have positioned ourselves to grow the company and make a difference for our customers and employees.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank for getting you to where you are now?
Pat O’Neill, our principal owner, CEO, and Chairman. He believed in the company, and when the recession hit in 2008 and Intellitec lost 90% of our business, he found a way to keep the company afloat!
What is your advice for aspiring or fellow business owners?
Dream big and build a team that challenges and shares that vision!
